Andy King: Northampton Town name assistant as caretaker boss
Northampton Town assistant manager Andy King has been put in temporary charge of the League Two strugglers.
King, 57, will be in charge until further notice, aided by goalkeeping coach Tim Flowers as his assistant.
Former Swindon Town manager King arrived at Sixfields alongside Boothroyd in November 2011.
In their first term in charge, they guided Northampton to safety, having taken over with the club just above the League Two relegation zone.
The former Watford, Colchester United and Coventry City manager then led the Cobblers to last season's play-off final, having finished sixth, only to be beaten 3-0 by Bradford City at Wembley.
But they have managed only four league wins this season and are three points from safety.
