Craig Fagan: Gillingham forward open to extending stay

Gillingham forward Craig Fagan is open to extending his stay with the League One club.

The 31-year-old has made five appearances since joining in November but his deal expires next month.

"I am enjoying my time here and don't see why I would want to move," the former Hull and Derby County player told BBC Radio Kent.

"It is obviously if the club wants me. I haven't given it any thought or spoken about going anywhere else."

He continued: "I know the manager [Peter Taylor] from before but have enjoyed playing with the lads.

"I must say everyone is really friendly around the place. I have been to a few clubs and this is one of the friendliest I have been to. Not just the playing staff but people around the ground as well."

Fagan was sidelined for a month with a thigh injury but, after returning to action in the Boxing Day defeat by Leyton Orient, he is eager to prove his worth.

"I had a setback through playing loads of games after not playing at the start of the season," he explained. "I missed a big chunk of the season and need to do fitness work on my own to get it topped up.

"I just want to get myself back in the team and show again what I was doing before I did get injured."
