York City 0-0 Bristol Rovers

Struggling Bristol Rovers earned a point at York and remain outside the relegation zone in League Two.

The home side were on top early on and could have taken the lead, as Russell Penn saw his drive blocked by Steve Mildenhall from point-blank range.

Rovers had a goal disallowed when John-Joe O'Toole was adjudged to be in an offside position at the far post.

The visitors should have scored but Nick Pope headed against the post and Chris Beardsley missed the target.

VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

York City manager Nigel Worthington told BBC Radio York:

"I thought it was an excellent game of football for League Two with two very honest teams having a go at trying to win the game.

"We did create more chances than what they did but to be fair to their keeper he had a fantastic day where he stopped two or three dead certainties.

"But you've got to make the opportunities so I'm very pleased with the performance. The players have put a real shift in over the 90 minutes.

"We dealt with their threat very, very well and on a better day the ball might have bounced in for a winner for us."

Bristol Rovers boss John Ward told BBC Radio Bristol:

"It's absolutely a good point, we've just gone against a team that's won their last three.

"They're a better team than what we played in the cup ties, but I think we are a better team than the two cup ties as well.

"It doesn't surprise me it was goalless whilst the others had goals conceded because I think both teams and clubs have tightened up really well.

"Away from home against a team in this sort of form is a very good point."
