Borussia Monchengladbach 0-2 Bayern Munich

Mario Gotze scores

Bayern Munich comfortably beat Borussia Monchengladbach to move 10 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.

Mario Gotze hit the post before firing home from Thomas Muller's cutback after seven minutes.

Muller doubled their lead in the second half with a penalty following a Granit Xhaka handball.

Bayern's victory, in the first match following the Bundesliga's winter break, extends their unbeaten league run to 42 games.

European and German champions Bayern, who were without injured pair Franck Ribery and Bastian Schweinsteiger, extended their lead over Sami Hyypia's Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayer visit Freiburg on Saturday, but will have played a game more than Pep Guardiola's dominant side.

Gladbach, who are third in the table, had previously only dropped two points in their nine home games this season.
