Guernsey player handed two-year ban for head-butt

A Guernsey footballer has been banned from the sport for two years for head-butting an opponent.

Richard Powell, the captain of Guernsey Rovers, was sent off in their Guernsey FA Cup match against North in November after a head-butt on Simon Tostevin.

Rovers chairman Brian Horsepool told BBC Guernsey that the club may fight the ban, imposed at a Guernsey Football Association hearing on Tuesday.

They have until 4 February to decide whether to appeal.

Horsepool declined to comment further and the GFA is also unwilling to comment until the 14-day appeal window has passed.
