Dan Fitchett struck twice in four minutes as Salisbury moved into the play-off zone with victory away to struggling Tamworth.
City's top scorer first rose highest to nod in Angus MacDonald's free-kick and then turned home Elliott Frear's cross to take his season's tally to 16 goals.
The hosts grabbed a lifeline through Lee Hildreth's stunning 35-yard effort.
But City keeper Will Puddy saved Richard Peniket's header as his side went fifth in the table.
