Ryan Clarke: Oxford goalkeeper signs new three-year deal

Oxford United goalkeeper Ryan Clarke has signed a new three-year contract to run to the end of the 2016-17 season.

The 31-year-old has made over 200 appearances for the club and Tuesday's 0-0 draw at Exeter was his fourth successive clean sheet in League Two.

"I feel the next few years should be when I am in my prime as a goalkeeper.

"We are in a very strong position in the league and I want to be part of what is happening here," Clarke told the club website.

He joined Oxford from Northwich in 2009 and has been first-choice since then, apart from a lengthy lay-off last year following surgery on both shoulders.

"Ryan has been one of the most consistent players not just for Oxford United but also in the whole of Leagues One and Two," said club chairman Ian Lenagan.

"He has improved year on year as a goalkeeper and he understands what the club is trying to build.

"We are very pleased that he will be around to help us progress."
