Stranraer 0-2 Rangers

Scottish League One leaders Rangers returned to winning ways against Stranraer at Stair Park.

Defender Lee Wallace fired the visitors in front early on, his strike coming after an exchange of passes with Nicky Law.

Ally McCoist's side sought to add to their lead but Stranraer were stubborn throughout.

But a mistake by goalkeeper David Mitchell allowed Jon Daly to roll in Rangers' second in the closing stages.

The Ibrox side, who drew 3-3 with Stenhousemuir at the weekend, maintain their 21-point advantage over Dunfermline with 10 matches to play.

Wallace made the early breakthrough after playing a one-two with Law and shooting low past Mitchell.

However, Stranraer came back into the match and Rangers goalkeeper Cammy Bell prevented an own goal by Daly before Jamie Longworth hooked a shot over the bar for the hosts.

Bell also made a fine save to deny Scott Robertson from 15 yards.

Having struggled to build on their lead Rangers carved out an excellent chance after the break but Daly headed Wallace's cross at Mitchell.

And, when Mitchell rushed from his line to try and head away Richard Foster's long ball, he nodded against Daly and was left stranded as the striker ushered the ball home for Rangers' second.
