Irish Premiership: Ballinamallard Utd 1-0 Ards
Ballinamallard moved 11 points clear of basement club Ards thanks to Jason McCartney's first-half penalty.
McCartney found the net from the spot four minutes before half-time after referee Raymond Crangle adjudged that Dwayne McManus had been fouled.
In the first half, Ross Arthurs hit the post with a 25-yard drive for Ards, while Corey Davidson missed a glorious chance with the last kick of the game.
It was the Mallards' first win in the Premiership since 7 December.
The match was played on a heavy pitch and in difficult underfoot conditions as McCartney's fifth goal of the season proved to be the winner.
Davidson hit the sidenetting when he should have done better, allowing Whitey Anderson's side to secure their first victory in 10 games.
Ballinamallard move up a place to 10th in the table.
