Scotland captain Scott Brown models the new away kit

Scotland midfielder Scott Brown believes the national side will qualify for the Euro 2016 finals.

Speaking at the launch of the national side's new away kit, Brown said next week's friendly against group rivals Poland takes on added significance.

Scotland and the Poles are in Group D alongside Germany, Republic of Ireland, Georgia and newcomers Gibraltar.

Nations must finish in the top two in their group to qualify, with the best third-placed finisher also qualifying.

The remaining eight third-placed teams go into the play-offs in November 2015.

Scotland's new away strip "is a fun, modern interpretation of one of Scotland's most iconic jerseys and pays homage to the colours of Lord Rosebery," according to the Scottish FA website.

"First worn in the 1880s and continued throughout the next two decades, Scotland played in the primrose hoops which were synonymous as the racing colours of racehorse owner Archibald Philip Primrose, Lord Rosebery, who was an early patron of Scottish football," the SFA said.

Reacting to the new kit, Brown said: "It will certainly make us stand out from the crowd, and that's exactly what we will need to do to qualify for Euro 2016.

"There is a lot of optimism ahead of this campaign and the new away kit will help us make a bright start."

Gordon Strachan's side face Poland in Warsaw on 5 March as they continue their preparations ahead of the Euro qualifiers.

Scotland will begin their quest away to Germany on 7 September before hosting Georgia for their first home match the following month.

    The scottish national team has strangely improved greatly since the demise to Rangers back in 2012.I think the reason for this is due to the fact that people are now starting to see the leagues differently with the previous focus being aimed too much at the 'old firm' players.

    People are starting to look more at the talent from the young boys from other teams Robertson,Gauld and Pawlett etc.

    Assuming that Germany don't drop a point and Gibraltar don't get a point, it is a 3 horse race between Ireland, Poland and Scotland. So why not?

    Beware of Georgia though; unlikely to qualify but will take points off someone.

    Awful kit though. Let's hope nobody buys it.

    What's wrong with traditional kits and plain white footballs?

    Only the SFA can look back at Lord Roseberry and the 1880's when everyone else is looking forward to a new Scotland both in football and politics

    I like a nice pink shirt, nothing wrong with yellow either, Scotland have played in yellow recently but this is awful. I heard that Gordon Strachan designed this, just in case the players need some extra incentive!

    Love all the male-ego Scot footy supporters suddenly becomin fashion experts on here. 'pink & yellow - Yuck - girly colours!' Testosterone in Scottish game is why we fail. It means playin for urself instead of team / Chargin about like headless chicken / punting balls aimlessly or getting sent off for crippling opponent.Evolve or never again qualify. Ask ur wife for her opinion b4 commenting pls.

    Love the strip, it's so fresh with lovely colours makes our players look like ice creams, they look so good I bet you they could lick themselves, well it will save the opposition doing it.

    "Saxons over the border", "little English fans". Not great adverts for our open, friendly country.

    I sincerely hope all four British teams qualify, and it would be even better if at least one gets to the knockout stage,
