Match ends, Stevenage 3, Tranmere Rovers 1.
Two second-half goals from Darius Charles and John Mousinho helped Stevenage to a vital three points against fellow strugglers Tranmere.
Jimmy Smith struck first after charging down a clearance to put Boro ahead.
Charles then converted Lucas Akins' cross to make it two and three minutes later Mousinho fired in off the post to make it three.
Curtis Obeng's late own goal made no difference and means Boro now lie a point behind Tranmere in 21st place.
The result extended the home side's unbeaten run to four league games and ended Rovers' three-match run without a loss.
VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Stevenage Manager Graham Westley told BBC Three Counties Radio:
"The boys were strong this afternoon. It was a determined display, we did what we had to do, and it was quite convincing on the whole.
"I thought they were having as much of the game as us and I didn't want the game to be that way.
"I wanted us to play on the front foot and take the game to them. I thought the early substitutions worked well and I thought we got ourselves going forward."
