Barnet 0-1 Gateshead

Jamie Chandler headed home for Gateshead to secure a narrow win over fellow promotion hopefuls Barnet.

Neither side created any clear-cut chances until just before the break, when Barnet goalkeeper Nick Jupp denied James Marwood from close range.

Veteran John Oster then shot wide for the visitors before Curtis Weston forced Gateshead's keeper Adam Bartlett into a smart save.

But Chandler's looping header from Oster's cross secured the points.

It was Gateshead's first away victory in seven matches and moves the visitors to sixth in the Conference Premier.

The result inflicted a second successive home league defeat on the Bees, who lost 3-1 to Woking last weekend, but remain well in the play-off hunt in fourth place.
