Blackpool 1-0 Millwall

Ricardo Fuller

Ricardo Fuller scored the only goal of the game as Blackpool beat Millwall to win for the first time in 19 matches.

The Lions' Steve Morison hit the bar with a chip before Tangerines striker David Goodwillie hit the post from the edge of the area.

Fuller put the hosts ahead from Tony McMahon's corner before Morison's penalty was saved by Matt Gilks.

Millwall's Martyn Woolford was again denied by the woodwork as the hosts picked up a first win in 101 days.

A first win under caretaker manager Barry Ferguson moves the Lancashire club nine points clear of the relegation zone but Millwall, managed by ex-Blackpool boss Ian Holloway, remain two points above the bottom three.

After Morison and Goodwillie saw shots come back off the woodwork, Fuller got his head to McMahon's corner to score after 13 minutes.

And when Morison was bundled over in the area by Kirk Broadfoot, the Millwall striker saw his spot-kick pushed away by Gilks.

Woolford hit the post after a Broadfoot mistake and Goodwillie's effort was saved by Millwall goalkeeper David Forde as Blackpool collected a first win since 30 November.

Blackpool caretaker-manager Barry Ferguson:

"It was one of the worst games I've watched but I couldn't care less; it's three points and it stops the rot.

"This is probably the most difficult period I've ever known in football. The fans have always been behind me, even though we were going through a difficult period.

"I told the players to be positive and if they gave me everything they had then I would be happy - they did that."

Millwall manager Ian Holloway:

"I really liked what I saw at the start.

"We hit the bar and I thought it was only a matter of time before we were going to score. But that's how it's goes and that's how it's gone for them as well recently. Good luck to them.

"I still can't believe we lost to be perfectly honest."
