Match ends, Carlisle United 0, Stevenage 0.
Stevenage frustrated fellow strugglers Carlisle to extend their unbeaten run to six games with a goalless draw.
Visiting goalkeeper Chris Day was the hero, keeping out Brad Potts and Manchester United loanee Sam Byrne.
Lee Miller then went close for Carlisle, heading inches wide from James Berrett's corner.
Boro, now just a point and one place behind 20th-placed Carlisle, held on with Day on hand to thwart Courtney Meppen-Walter and David Symington.
Carlisle United manager Graham Kavanagh told BBC Radio Cumbria:
"I thought we did everything but score - it was a great performance.
"We were energetic, we were the team forcing the game and had enough chances to win three games, so it was frustrating.
"Of course we wanted to win, but we're a long way from a crisis moment.
"I realise that with every passing match, the result becomes even more important."
Stevenage boss Graham Westley told BBC Three Counties Radio:
"Could we have won it? Sure, we had a moment or two. Could we have lost it? I didn't really feel in any serious danger throughout the 90 minutes but football's a funny game and if you don't get your work-rate right, anything can happen.
"I don't think we were nervous at all, I think there was very difficult conditions out there, and that affected the way the game was played.
"On these types of surfaces, in these types of conditions, at this time of year, it's a typical game of football, and you have to battle out your points, earn your clean sheets, and you have to be on top of your set-plays to win these games.
"It's now six home games and four away games left, but to be unbeaten in the away games we've had I think is a strong return from the lads."
