BBC Sport - Joe Thompson: Ross Hutchins an inspiration during cancer fight
Thompson grateful for Hutchins help
- From the section Football
Joe Thompson says he is extremely grateful for the support he has received from tennis player Ross Hutchins, who successfully recovered from cancer last year, as he continues his own battle against the illness.
The 25-year-old midfielder, who plays for Tranmere Rovers, is approaching the end of a six-month course of chemotherapy after being diagnosed with nodular sclerosing Hodgkin lymphoma - cancer of the white blood cells - in October 2013.
Thompson and girlfriend Chantelle Perry tell BBC Late Kick Off North West's Alex Worsick that their lives are "on pause" while he completes his treatment.
Watch an extended interview with Joe Thompson on Monday's BBC Late Kick Off at 23:20 BST (North West region only).
