In-form Bury recorded their third consecutive win with a commanding second-half display against 10-man Exeter City.
After Danny Mayor was fouled by Daniel Coles, Chris Hussey broke the deadlock for the home side from a free kick.
Coles was then dismissed just five minutes later when he was shown a second yellow for a foul on Danny Rose.
Bury sealed all three points late on when substitute Tom Soares turned in Mayor's cross.
The Shakers are now seven points off the play-off places while Exeter are four points above the relegation zone.
Bury manager David Flitcroft told BBC Radio Manchester:
"We played with a tempo, an urgency and a real vigour in the first half but you have got to see teams off in that time.
"It gave us the platform to try and force the issue in the second half.
"We tried to hit Exeter from every part of the pitch and it was a really solid performance in every aspect.
"It was important we dominated a game against a team around us and I'm pleased with a clean sheet as well.
