Dave Kitson and James Constable helped Oxford move back into the League Two play-off places as they beat Plymouth.
Kitson volleyed Oxford ahead from close range while Argyle's task was made more difficult by the 49th-minute dismissal of French defender Maxine Blanchard.
Constable smashed in an unstoppable second from 20 yards while Oxford's Nicky Wroe also hit the bar.
Plymouth's Curtis Nelson's header was tipped onto the bar by keeper Ryan Clarke as Oxford held out for victory.
