Steve Harper: Hull City goalkeeper agrees new one-year contract

Steve Harper

Hull City goalkeeper Steve Harper has signed a new one-year deal.

The 39-year-old joined the Tigers from Newcastle last July, bringing an end to a 20-year spell with the Magpies.

He made 19 appearances this season, triggering an automatic extension to his initial one-year contract.

Hull, beaten 3-2 in extra-time by Arsenal in the FA Cup final last week, have released defender Abdoulaye Faye, 36, and 33-year-old former captain Robert Koren.

Faye joined the KC Stadium side in July 2012 as one of Steve Bruce's first signings. He helped them to promotion in his first season but featured just seven times this campaign.

Slovenia international Koren joined Hull from West Brom in August 2010 and made 143 league appearances in his four seasons with the club.

Goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic, defender Joe Dudgeon and striker Matty Fryatt remain in talks over new deals.

Development squad players Will Aimson, Ben Clappison, Matty Dixon, Calaum Jahraldo-Martin, John Mahon, Jonathan Margetts and Sam Topliss have also been offered new contracts.
