BBC Sport - World Cup 2014: England do not want to go home - Steven Gerrard

We don't want to go home - Gerrard

England captain Steven Gerrard says he knows the "pain of going out" of a World Cup and does not want to be experiencing the same feeling come Friday morning after their game against Uruguay.

Both sides need to win the match in Sao Paulo after losing their opening games, and Gerrard says an early World Cup exit is "something we don't want".

Gerrard praises his "genius" Liverpool teammate Luis Suarez, who looks set to start for Uruguay, and also believes Raheem Sterling will be a big player for England for a "long time to come".
