Crawley Town have made their seventh signing of the summer with the arrival of former MK Dons striker Izale McLeod.

The 29-year-old, who scored 10 goals in 40 games for the Dons last season, has signed a two-year contract.

Crawley manager John Gregory told the club website: "He's quick, strong and a lethal finisher.

"I have worked with him before and know what he is capable of. He is a proven goalscorer at this level - something we lacked last season."

After starting his career with Derby County, where he was handed his senior debut by Gregory, McLeod rose to prominence with the Dons, scoring 60 goals in 135 appearances between 2004 and 2007.

He earned a £1.1m move to Charlton Athletic, but only started seven league matches in three years at The Valley.

He joined Barnet in November 2010 and enjoyed a fruitful spell with the Bees as he bagged 32 goals in 73 league matches.

McLeod moved on to Portsmouth in summer 2012 and, after scoring 10 times for Pompey, re-joined MK Dons in January 2013.

He is their record scorer, with 71 goals during his two spells at Stadium MK, but left at the end of last season and is now hoping to make an impact for Crawley.

"I had a good chat with the manager and he sold the ambition of the club to me really well," McLeod said.

"It's almost going to be a new team next season and I am looking forward to being part of it."

Crawley start the new League One season with a trip to relegated Barnsley on 9 August.
