@520 england are not talking down world football..were out it happens...we are not in dire straights...england has a fine record in the world cup...we dont have to play the usa...and if we did we would probobly be favourites to win...you got a chip on your shoulder the size of the world cup..get a life.
@510It is based on geography, and of those 3 S American nations that play in Concacaf, French Guiana are not even a Fifa member, & the other 2 are ranked outside the world's top 130 nations. Are you seriously suggesting that all 10 SA nations should not have to qualify?Maybe SA & Concacaf could merge, but USA & Mex would still qualify, & Venezuale & Peru are no better than Costa Rica/Honduras
Too many American teams in the cup? England always get cheated out?One question; can you bear to see a match between the current England team and the current USA team? England were lucky Costa Rica did not need a win when they played each other!!England are in dire straits and talking down the world football is not the answer. That's more of an excuse to remain useless.
@514 most fouled? Are you joking, he makes a meal out of any challenge. And more fool you, tonight there is report that claims match fixing is going on in the world cup. Witchhunt is that what you call alternative research? recognising there is a criminal element in the game, what planet are you on.
My gut feelings is that an American nation will win it.
One thing that surprises me in this competition is that all the table leaders qualify for the quarter final. May be the US or Swiss or ... would have qualified but the destiny that the table leaders take it all factor prevent any second position on the table (such as Swiss, Nigeria, Chile, Mexico, Algeria, US, Greece and Uruguay) to succeed.
@503Would it be fair to have 32 world groups for qualifying rounds, with previous world cup participants being seeded, and complete the groups with teams from all confederations. I'm not sure how many teams per group, maybe 7/8; and then have each group winner participate in the world cup. If this was the case, I assure you, you would see at least 5 SA teams qualify and no more than 14 EU.
@512 they didnt require pens v england because maradona cheated...to me that game was 1-1 I dont accept argentina won that world cup fairly.
507.mac_abre I'll just be glad when any team beat Holland, all due to one player - Robben.===Robben does go down easily and in dramatic fashion but is often the most fouled player in football. Are you suggesting that referees, who have a difficult job, are corrupt, in which case you should contact FIFA and give them your evidence.I suppose though that you're on a "witch hunt".
Football the game where you are coached to CHEAT.
Brazil '14 is the most open World Cup since Italia '90, when four of the knockout matches, including two of England's, were decided in extra time, and both semi-finals were settled by penalty shoot-out.In Mexico '86 three of the quarter-finals went to penalties, and the only team which didn't require penalties to reach the semi-final (Argentina) won the tournament...
Considering England showed no promise (be honest, they didn't look like winning a single game!) perhaps it is time to tell them all they will never play in the white shirt ever again. That way those English players with desire and points to prove will be at the helm, giving their all.Shelvey would have been better than Gerrard, Routledge on the left is infintely better than Rooney!!
