Rangers have been drawn to face Hibernian at Ibrox in the first round of the Petrofac Training Cup.
Raith Rovers, who won the Challenge Cup last season with victory over Rangers, take on Fife rivals Dunfermline at East End Park.
Hearts welcome Annan Athletic to Tynecastle and Falkirk visit East Stirlingshire.
Petrofac Training Services were named as the new sponsor of the Scottish Challenge Cup on Tuesday.
The draw was made at Easter Road on Wednesday, with the teams split into two sections, north and south.
Rangers manager Ally McCoist says meeting Hibs is one of the most difficult ties his side could have been handed.
"It's an incredible draw really when you think about it, but it's a great game and a big game," he told his club's website.
"The Challenge Cup is a tournament we got to the final of last year and we were extremely disappointed not to win it.
"This year we'll be going all out to win it but we couldn't have wished for a harder tie than against a team that was relegated from the top flight."
And Easter Road boss Alan Stubbs is also relishing the opportunity to take on the Ibrox outfit.
"I'm really excited about the draw," he told the Hibs website.
"Facing Rangers at Ibrox will be a massive game and a great early test for us at the start of the season."
The first round ties are due to be played on 26 July, but Rangers' match against Hibs will be rearranged due to the Commonwealth Games being held in Glasgow.
