Oldham Athletic: Boundary Park to become SportsDirect.com Park

Oldham Athletic have been at Boundary Park since 1906

Oldham Athletic's Boundary Park will be renamed SportsDirect.com Park after they announced a five-year sponsorship deal with retailer Sports Direct.

The League One club say the agreement is their biggest commercial deal and will include a new shirt sponsor.

Sports Direct will also run a club shop in the new north stand which is under construction.

"This is a landmark day for the football club," said Latics chairman Simon Corney.

"This deal is a first for Oldham and shows that the long-term future and stability of the club is at the forefront of our minds."

As part of the deal, Premier League side Newcastle United will visit the ground on 15 July to play the first match under its new name.

The Magpies renamed St James' Park the Sports Direct Arena in November 2011 before it was changed back to the original name 12 months later.

"There is a lot going on at the club with the construction of the new stand and the opportunities this affords us," added Corney.

"We have a dynamic young manager who is looking to assemble a squad to build upon the excellent finish we enjoyed to last season."
