Marcus Holness: Tranmere can gain from defender's experience
Marcus Holness hopes his experience of previous League Two promotion battles will help his new club Tranmere.
Holness was promoted with Rochdale in 2010 and played in Burton's play-off final defeat by Fleetwood in May.
"I've got a lot of experience with regards to getting up there and trying to push on," the 25-year-old defender told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"Hopefully I can bring that experience to the team and we can really have a good go this year."
Holness has signed a two-year contract with Rovers, who were relegated from League One in May and will be playing in the fourth tier for the first time since 1988-89.
Having inherited a squad with several youngsters, new manager Rob Edwards has added experience with the arrivals of striker Kayode Odejayi and midfielder Matt Gill, who has been handed a player-coach role at Prenton Park.
"The team spirit is brilliant and that gets you a lot further than people think," added Holness. "If you're all together, you'll be a successful team.
"There are a few young lads here, but they all seem to be up to pace and seem to know what the manager wants them to do. I don't feel like we're lacking in any department."
