All four semi-finalists have something in common. Not one of them is outstanding. And yet it's incredibly difficult to score against any of them.Tournament football is no longer about playing your best football - it's about not making mistakes.Because of this, a Germany v Argentina final looks likely. If so, it could well go to penalties, with Neuer winning it for Germany.
Netherlands will take down Argentina because the Brazilians will be cheering them on for doing so.
Please Phil/bb set the head to head right. At wednesday it will be your day. The day Argentina will beat Holland
@427 BlueIsTheColourBit surprised the moderator has not picked up your crime of mentioning Boulahrouz during a festival of football...Am sure the Dutch are coveting Glen Johnson, though his positional awareness is so bad it's possible he thinks he's playing in Holland.
@412Blue, agree 100% plus if Lampard can get Dutch citizenship by Weds, NL are a shoo-in. @425Col spot-on, someone posted "Germany are lucky". Great golfer Arnold Palmer was accused of being lucky, he famously replied "maybe ... but you know, the more I practise, the luckier I get".
For those people who are very young ,or have short memories , W/C semi finals are very seldom a football fiesta these days , on the contrary they usually are fraught tight and some times goalless matches412 FunatI think you will find Netherlands are in the final because they defeated Spain,Chile,Australia,Mexico and everybody's darlings Costa Rica scoring 11 times & conceding 3 goals inc 2 pens
Love you Phil xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
417. funat54Agree entirely, the Dutch have only produced one decent player of note in the last 20 years - Khalid Boulahrouz - I think most will agree he lit up the Premier League during his short stay at Chelsea.
North America ends in Mexico.Central America starts in Guatemala and ends in Panama.Latin America is defined as all countries that spoke in a language derivative of Latin (Spanish, French, Portuguese).
We can't get away from downgrading the German team - we love to use the words and phrases like: 'clinical' 'workmanlike' 'ruthless efficiency' 'machine' 'well-drilled' etc etc. It would be good if England were able to show some of those qualities! I hope the Germans win - they are the 'cleanest' and most 'honest' team in the tournament.
Despite all the surprise packages, the last 4 is as expected pre-tournament, with Netherlands instead of Spain.Have had a sneaky feeling about Argentina all along, but there is no stand-out team so the Europeans have their best ever chance to win it in S America.Just hoping for some great football, shame Neymar is injured.
@ 410. It's not luck. It's called the Law of attraction. Germany have belief and a winning mentality. Therefore things tend to go their way. England play with fear and generally attract what they fear. Took me a while to figure it out but I believe it's the truth. Man 4 man they have never been that much better, which is why we are all so frustrated 48 years on.
@421 - Yes, of course, that's the easy part, but in what MINUTE will the goals be scored?
Brazil 1 - 3 Germany (Hulk, Mueller, Schweiny, Klose).Argies 1 - 1 Holland (Rojo, Kuyt). Dutch 2-1 AET (Robben).
