1017.mrmjvc That's the funniest thing I've read today. Why is it funny? It's true. ===What? It's true because you said it?England wouldn't have won "by at least 4 - 0"Disprove that.
Loved every second of it. Luiz was exposed for the fraudster of a defender he is and captaining Brazil to their worst defeat in a WC in their history will now be the achievement he'll be remembered for. Germany are the pick to win it from now on, neither Argentina nor the Netherlands have shown they have the momentum to overrun the German Juggernaut. But, silly things have happened...
"Germany in contrast were cold, clinical, magnificent."I hope they continue to be in the final, regardless of whom they are playing against.
John M, brazilians doesn´t need to create any excuses for anyone. By all means, Brazil squad are the best soccer team in the course of history. We won 5 world cups; we score 5 in a final match against the house (Sweden), when Pelé, only 17, show what it is to be eternal King of the sport. The size of the appalling moment we saw yesterday has only to do with the brillance of the Canarinho shirt.
I think I am right in saying that Pele once claimed an African team would win the World Cup by 2000. He has now matched that silly statement by stating that Brazil will win Russia 2018. The Russian climate will not suit them, they need to get the right manager and the Euro giants will be too strong. They might have a chance in Qatar if the European teams can't take the heat.
Brilliant refereeing decision ever. The ref punished Luiz's elbow on Klose by making him stay instead of putting him out of his misery.
It's about time the BBC stopped putting Brazil on a pedestal as if they are immortal football gods who are going to win everything and have a divine right to do so.The Germans have achieved more at international level over the last 40 years than Brazil. If there is a football super power, it is them. Argentina and Italy have also achieved just as much as Brazil in that time.
I really fail to understand why so many "Brits" on this blog decry us for winning in 1966 and ramble on about goals that should not haver been. The Germans really don't care about the result...But, thats the real difference and why we are always going to be past winners and they will always be future champions.
@1072 Stopped reading after you said double figures against England. It's just one game. The only people who overhype us are the press. Hardly any England fans are like that (but some buy into it). In fact most polls I read showed many thought we would go out group stage anyway. The press love to be confrontational.
Hi, I'm from (insert random German city). I can't believe by how much we beat Brazil (but I had to log on here and gloat about it). You Brits keep talking about 1966 World Cup (even though England fans are continuously blagging on that they should move on). Nobody in Germany talks about it (although I just brought it up).
Brazil are an average team with an extraordinary sense of entitlement. When things didn't go their way the turned into thugs and then complained when it was turned back on them. Germany were clinical and ran up the score because they don't know another way to play. Other teams might have got three and then backed up the bus. This was footie Karma and Brazil got exactly what they deserved.
@1068 JonThat's not what I said. Try reading my post before commenting.Oh, but that would mean you having to learn to read first - so I guess that option is off the table. And yes I would rather my team went out earlier with its dignity intact than be scarred for decades by a massive defeat one round later. In the long run it would be better for the players. But you didn't think of that.
Let us English start liking and respecting the Germans as much as we do the French, Spanish and Italians in various degrees. I almost found the BBC commentators sigh after the mauling of Brazil last night. The Germans were almost embarrassed to win 7-1, and certainly did not gloat. Forget the wars, respect a successful country who are now the world’s best football team over the course of history.
I heard P$G are auctioning David Luiz on eBay to cut their losses
1069 If Brazil were beaten 7-1 be assured Englands defeat would have been in double figures. Most over-hyped team in any tournament but good to see consistency. Already the press have England winning the 2018 and 2022 tournaments with Sterling Sturridge etc. The arrogance of this nation is surpassed only by its lack of ability and professionalism. Keep Roy
Fred booed by Atletico Mineiro fans who remember his days with Cruzeiro (both play their home games at 'O Mineirao'), An unsurprisingly missed fact by BBC1, 5live, Chief football correspondent....BBC have had a lame world cup, sea change needed, stale, cliched, overly comfortable, not worth the fee.
