Wigan Athletic have signed former Cardiff City midfielder Don Cowie on a two-year deal.
The 31-year-old left the Bluebirds at the start of the month after turning down the offer of a new contract.
The Scotland international made 86 league appearances in three seasons for the Welsh side.
Latics boss Uwe Rosler told the club website: "I wanted to bring in an energetic player with experience who knows about getting out of the league."
Rosler added: "Don also played over 20 games last season in the Premier League - he's 31 but he's an extremely professional person and I've known about him for quite some time.
"From his training regime to the way he lives and breathes football he has the attributes to allow him to play football until his late 30s."
