Gateshead have signed free agent winger Alex Rodman on a one-year deal, after a move to fell through.
Rodman, 27, left Conference Premier rivals Grimsby Town this summer after seven goals in 41 games last term.
He becomes the seventh arrival at Gateshead this summer and is reunited with former York boss Gary Mills.
"I weighed up the options and I decided this was the best option for me," Rodman told BBC Newcastle.
"The football Gateshead played last season spoke for itself, they were one of the best footballing sides in the division."
Sutton Coldfield-born Rodman has worked with Mills before at both Tamworth and York.
"He's a top bloke, and a very good manager," added Rodman. "I have a lot of respect for Gary and he knows how to get the best out of me.
"We've got a very good relationship and I'm looking forward to getting back to playing under him."
