Shrewsbury's excellent start to the season continued as a brace from Jordan Clark proved enough to see off Luton.

The unbeaten hosts, buoyed by their Capital One Cup victory at Premier League Leicester, struck in the third minute when midfielder Clark slotted home Connor Goldson's raking pass.

The 20-year-old made it two in the 70th minute when Hatters goalkeeper Mark Tyler fumbled his free-kick.

The visitors had Matt Robinson sent off late on for a foul on Cameron Gayle.

Shrewsbury Town manager Micky Mellon told BBC Radio Shropshire

"We are obviously pleased with the passing and how we have defended. It was important to stick to our planning after the big (League Cup) result at Leicester.

"Good players keep churning out results and Jordan Clark is a terrific talent in how hard he works, and to score his first goal, we are all delighted for him."

"It is important for the youth to produce it as players as we are a club who can't afford to go out and find it, our players have a pathway to the first team..

"We won't get carried away and we won't be out celebrating tonight. I'll be up early tomorrow and looking at Preston in the cup on Tuesday"

Luton manager John Still told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"I don't think our mindset was anything other than right, whereas I don't think it was last week.

"I am happy that we've competed all over the pitch, but disappointed that we haven't played very well.

"In the games that we've played this season, we haven't played poorly, even if we haven't played particularly great.

"We have to be better than that."
