Mansfield Town 1-2 Burton Albion

Burton's Callum McFadzean scored the decisive goal at the One Call Stadium

Ten-man Burton Albion came through an ill-tempered finale at Mansfield Town to secure victory and maintain their unbeaten record in League Two.

Alex MacDonald open the scoring for the league leaders with a 20-yard deflected shot on 42 minutes and Callum McFadzean tapped in after the break.

The Stags hit back when Matt Rhead headed home a free-kick on 75 minutes.

Robbie Weir was sent off for a headbutt with two minutes to go and the match ended in a mass confrontation.

Mansfield Town manager Paul Cox told BBC Radio Nottingham:

"I didn't think we deserved to lose today. I thought the lads gave everything and showed a tremendous desire and attitude.

"I think we were in possession of the ball for both goals and our lack of sophistication cost us.

"We need to concentrate more. We need to be better in both boxes."

Burton manager Gary Rowett told BBC Radio Derby:

"It was hard fought against a team that are very direct in their play - and they're good at it.

"I felt as though we coped with it really well, particularly early on in the second half to break away after scoring the first goal with a little bit of fortune.

"Our forward play could have been a little more incisive, and I was a little worried the conditions might play into their hands in the second half, but we were very strong.

"We broke away and our second goal was an excellent, excellent goal."
