Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton will undergo another scan on his badly bruised knee.
Britton, 31, who has not played since the Swans' pre-season trip to the United States in July, is suffering from a "stress reaction".
"If he trains it could turn into a stress fracture, so obviously he needs to rest," said a club spokesperson.
"He had a scan a week ago which showed signs of improvement and he will undergo another scan in three weeks."
There is better news on forward Marvin Emnes, who is expected to return to training this week following a knee cartilage problem.
It is hoped he will be in contention for the Premier League trip to Chelsea on 13 September following the international break.
Midfielder Jay Fulton has returned to training after damaging knee ligaments in pre-season.
Swansea host Rotherham United in the Capital One Cup second round on Tuesday night, before returning to league action on Saturday against West Bromwich Albion, also at Liberty Stadium.
