Aldershot Town 0-1 Woking

Garry Hill
Garry Hill has been in charge of Woking since January 2011

Giuseppe Sole scored a superb 35-yard free-kick to give Woking their first-ever league victory at Aldershot.

Sole's 70th-minute strike left Woking as the only unbeaten team in the Conference and inflicted the Shots' first home defeat of the season.

Dean Morgan's deflected shot hit an Aldershot post shortly before half-time after captain Mark Ricketts and keeper Aaron Howe had been forced off injured.

Josh Scott headed Aldershot's best chance wide in the eighth minute.

Scott also had a shot cleared off the line shortly after Sole's goal, but the Shots failed to take advantage of 39-year-old substitute keeper Andy Little coming on for his first game since April 2012 in the 32nd minute.

He hardly had a save to make until he pulled off a comfortable stop from Brett Williams with three minutes remaining.

The victory was Woking's fourth in a row, stretches their unbeaten league away run to 10 matches and leaves them third in the table, while Aldershot drop a place to 14th.

Aldershot Town boss Andy Scott told BBC Surrey:

"We didn't pass the ball as well as we should've done, we didn't retain possession as well as we have done and the game was passing us by. We had too many gaps all over the place.

"You have to give credit to the opposition who made it hard for us, but we still need more quality on the ball.

"We just got out of our stride and defended too deeply - and we give away the free-kick, he smashes in."

Woking manager Garry Hill told BBC Surrey:

"We knew it was always going to be tough coming here with an unbeaten record.

"We've had a very good start to the season and we made sure we kept it.

"We had to dig deep in the last 20 minutes, but I think over the 90 minutes we deserved the win."
