Irish Premiership: Cliftonville 0-0 Linfield

Linfield hold champions Cliftonville to a goal-less draw in an entertaining Premiership game at Solitude.

Champions Cliftonville surrendered top spot in the Irish Premiership as a result of being held by Linfield.

Tommy Breslin's Reds had the better of the first half and Chris Curran missed the best chance when he fired wide.

Sammy Morrow replaced injured Linfield player-manager Warren Feeney midway through the second half.

Morrow had a chance but the Reds defence blocked while at the other end Curran fired a shot across goal from Ryan Catney's clever backheel.

In the end, Linfield will be the happier with the draw.

They came under a lot of pressure in the first half, but came into the contest more after the break.

Cliftonville, title winners for the last two seasons, are still seeking their first league win at Solitude this term having drawn all three home games.

Ballymena take over at the top of the table after beating Institute 2-1 at the Showgrounds.
