Lincoln City 2-3 Bristol Rovers

Ellis Harrison
Harrison struck late to earn Bristol Rovers their first away win

Bristol Rovers secured their first away win of the season after Ellis Harrison struck in stoppage time as Lincoln suffered a fourth defeat in five games.

Stuart Sinclair had put Rovers ahead before Daniel Leadbitter's angled strike made it 2-0 at Sincil Bank.

Lincoln fought back, with Sean Newton scoring a penalty after a handball.

Jordan Burrow levelled before Harrison converted from Lee Brown's pass for a dramatic winner to make it two straight wins for Rovers.

Simpson on Lincoln City v Bristol Rovers

Lincoln City manager Gary Simpson told BBC Radio Lincolnshire:

"It was just unbelievable. We'll not do anything unless we stop conceding goals and start defending properly.

"It's costing us dearly the way things are going. We've got to score three or four goals to win a football match, it's ridiculous.

"We're trying to be expansive, we're trying to play and to create chances but defenders first and foremost have got to defend and we're not doing that at the minute. We're conceding too many goals and they're easy goals, they're sloppy goals."

"I can't say that we didn't play OK, that we didn't create chances going forward, keeping the ball, passing it and moving it and getting across the box but the basic defending was non-existent."

Bristol Rovers assistant manager Marcus Stewart told BBC Radio Bristol:

Stewart on Lincoln v Bristol Rovers

"I'm pretty calm guy but that did get the heart-rate going a little bit, I must admit.

"It's finished off with a flurry of five shots from them in the space of 10 seconds. That got it up a bit more because of our defending.

"Blocking shots and two or three players throwing their bodies on the line just to get a result - that's what we have got to be doing.

"I was a striker back in the day but watching your defenders defend like that in the last kicks of the game is inspiring."
