Inverness CT win trio of SPFL monthly awards

Inverness Caledonian Thistle's strong start to the season has been recognised as they won a hat-trick of Scottish Professional Football League awards.

The Highlanders won four and drew one of their five matches in August to take them to the top of the Premiership.

John Hughes was voted Premiership manager of the month for August.

Midfielder Ross Draper and teenager Ryan Christie picked up the respective awards for best player and young player across all four SPFL divisions.

Caley Thistle began their league campaign with a 2-0 win at Hamilton, then drew 0-0 at home to Dundee before securing wins over Motherwell, Celtic and Kilmarnock.

Draper played every minute of these five games while Christie started every match and scored against Hamilton.

Inverness are the first club to win three awards in the same month since Dundee United did so in November 2013, with Jackie McNamara, Andy Robertson and Ryan Gauld gaining recognition then.

On Tuesday, after he also guided his new club to four league wins from four in the opening month of the season.
