Anton Ferdinand Reading debut delayed by injury
Anton Ferdinand will have to wait to make his Reading debut with the defender likely to be out for at least four weeks with a hamstring injury.
Ferdinand, 29, arrived at the club last month having spent last season in Turkey with Antalyaspor.
However, manager Nigel Adkins revealed he is set to be unavailable until after the international break in October.
"Anton Ferdinand has hurt his hamstring and is going to be out for a few weeks," Adkins told the club website.
|2002-08: West Ham - 163 games, five goals||Jan-May 2013: Bursapor: seven games, no goals|
|2008-2011: Sunderland - 95 games, no goals||2013-2014: Antalyaspor - three games, no goals|
|2011-2013: QPR - 49 games, no goals|
"I wouldn't expect him to be available before the next international break."
The former QPR player signed a two-year deal in August and is joined on the sidelines by defender Shaun Cummings, who has had knee surgery after being injured in a tackle against Scunthorpe in League Cup.
"Shaun Cummings has had a knee operation after a horrendous challenge at Scunthorpe," added Adkins.
"Then we've got young Aaron Tshibola who will probably be unavailable for another four or five weeks.
"Craig Tanner also needs a period of recovery after a problem he picked up in the Huddersfield game."
