Rochdale 1-0 Coventry City

Ian Henderson's 29th-minute penalty proved decisive as Rochdale beat Coventry City to leapfrog the Sky Blues in the League One table.

The hosts had the better of the early chances but Frank Nouble's effort was well saved by Conrad Logan.

The crucial goal came when Ryan Allsop tripped Bastien Hery in the box and Henderson converted the spot-kick.

Rochdale could have doubled their lead but Peter Vincenti's effort was cleared off the line by Jordan Clarke.

Dale climb to seventh with their third win in four matches, while Coventry drop to 11th after their second consecutive defeat.

Rochdale assistant manager Chris Beech told BBC Radio Manchester:

"It was a really good performance from both sets of players.

"Coventry are probably the best team that have been to Spotland.

"It was a yellow card and, fair play to the boys, they dealt with that decision and put the penalty away."

Sky Blues boss Steven Pressley told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire:

"I'm very frustrated. We started very well, but we were a bit leggy, maybe as a result of the players' endeavours on Tuesday night with 10 men.

"In the second half, we really applied ourselves. I can't fault the players in the way they applied themselves. but our final pass let us down.

"We took the game to Rochdale but, at the final moment, the final decision: that is where we probably let ourselves down."
