AFC Wimbledon 1-0 Morecambe

Adebayo Akinfenwa was the hero again for AFC Wimbledon as he scored the only goal of the game to sink Morecambe.

Akinfenwa followed up his brace against Burton in midweek by heading home an Alan Bennett cross from six yards out.

Morecambe went close when a Ryan Williams free-kick from 25 yards out was pushed over the crossbar by Dons' goalkeeper James Shea.

Akinfenwa could have doubled his tally after the break but drew an impressive diving save from Barry Roche.

AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley told BBC London 94.9:

"We were a little bit open in the first 20, we looked like we were causing our own problems. But overall it was a different performance from Tuesday night, but one that is necessary during the the season.

"We haven't been great up until now, we've been inconsistent. We've conceded a lot of goals but we know we've got a good threat going forward so we've done a lot of work on the team shape.

"When you've got the sort of players we have you know you've got a threat, you know you're going to have chances during the game and in League Two you need to stay in the game to make sure you're not chasing them."
