FC Halifax Town 5-0 AFC Telford United

Danny Hattersley
Hattersley joined Halifax from Conference rivals Southport on Friday

Danny Hattersley bagged a brace on his debut as FC Halifax thumped Conference bottom club AFC Telford United.

Town took the lead through Adam Smith's volley before Smith turned provider four minutes later, finding on-loan Hattersley at the far post.

Halifax fans had to wait 53 minutes for their next goal when Scott Boden flicked home from Marc Roberts' header.

Paul Marshall made it four with an 18-yard drive, before Hattersley grabbed a second on the stroke of full-time.

While Halifax rise to third, Liam Watson's winless Bucks are now four points adrift at the foot of the table, having lost eight of their first 11 matches.

AFC Telford United assistant manager Andy Pryce told BBC Radio Shropshire:

"Liam Watson is still in the changing rooms going through a few things with the lads. He is not shouting and screaming, just trying to get us all back together, really.

"We have to get back up after this, we do have quality in this team, but we must get back to basics.

"The stats don't lie. We haven't won a game. We have got to work hard and start to put things right at Market Drayton in the Shropshire Senior Cup on Tuesday night.

"It would be silly not to think there is pressure on us, but we have to ride it and we have to go again."
