Dundee: 'Terrific' Gary Harkins praised after winning goal
Dundee manager Paul Hartley praised midfielder Gary Harkins for his performance and winning goal against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
"I thought he took up great positions and was a threat in the final third, driving with the ball, he's clever," Hartley told BBC Scotland.
"He's a terrific player when he's on song.
"We maybe didn't get him on the ball enough in the first half, but in the second, I thought he was excellent."
Harkins, who was with Oldham Athletic on loan from St Mirren last season, was one of a number of summer signings by Hartley as he rebuilt his side after winning the Scottish Championship.
"I think we've brought 15 in and I think 13 have went the other way, so it has been a big turnaround in players, but they have gelled superbly," said the manager.
The 1-0 victory in Perth stretched Dundee's unbeaten run to 10 games, including the final two fixtures of last season.
"There is a good feeling among the staff and the players," added Hartley, whose side next face a derby with Dundee United.
"There is a great spirit amongst us and I think the city as a whole is very vibrant, and we look forward to the big game next week.
"I thought we controlled large parts of the game. In the second half, I thought we looked comfortable.
"I am delighted with the team. I thought they were excellent. Overall, I thought it was a great team performance - another clean sheet and our unbeaten record stands."
