Luton made it four games unbeaten as they saw off struggling Oxford United at Kenilworth Road.
The hosts took the lead early on through Luke Wilkinson who headed home Jake Howells' pinpoint cross.
Howells secured the win for the Hatters in the second-half, firing in the rebound after his penalty was well saved by George Long following Johnny Mullins' handball.
Defeat leaves Oxford in the relegation zone after 10 matches.
Luton First Team Coach Hakan Hayrettin told BBC Three Counties Radio:
"We've had a bit of an illness epidemic in the club. At the training ground we had to be very light on our feet yesterday.
"We picked the team that we thought could go and win the game today and we did that. I thought it was a truly good, professional performance by the team..
"We've actually analysed the way they play and we wanted to press high. We play with an intensity and we train with an intensity. I thought the first 15 minutes of the game was a training session for us because we played exactly the way we train."
