Both sides missed chances as Hartlepool and Portsmouth drew 0-0 at Victoria Park for the third consecutive season.

Forwards Patrick Agyemang and Craig Westcarr both fired over glorious opportunities for the visitors.

The hosts improved as the game wore on and it took an excellent sliding block by defender Paul Robinson to prevent Brad Walker's goal-bound effort.

Ryan Brobbel hit a half-volley wide for Hartlepool and goalkeeper Scott Finders saved from Westcarr to ensure a draw.

Portsmouth manager Andy Awford told BBC Radio Solent:

"Obviously you want to take three but every point is a good point especially away from home and off the back of two defeats away from home.

"It was important that we stopped that rot, which we have done, and I'm delighted with the clean sheet, but we have had enough clear cut chances today.

"We have to keep believing, that's what I have just said to the players, that the goals will come and they will.

"We can't keep dominating games like the first half and not score, that tide has to turn and we will keep working at it."
