Grimsby Town 3-0 Chester

Nathan Arnold
Nathan Arnold marked his return from injury with a stoppage time goal.

Grimsby Town made it back-to-back victories with a comfortable home win over Chester at Blundell Park.

Shaun Pearson broke the deadlock on 18 minutes when he converted Scott Brown's corner from close range.

Ross Hannah doubled Grimsby's advantage with a drilled effort from 15 yards on 49 minutes, before having his penalty saved by City keeper Jon Worsnop.

Nathan Arnold then marked his return from injury with a goal in stoppage time to seal the Mariners' victory.

Chester were affected by a sickness bug that affected three of Steve Burr's players at half-time.

Chester manager Steve Burr told BBC Radio Merseyside:

"We weren't helped by the fact that three of our most influential players were sick at half time, I've not witnessed anything like that before in a dressing room.

"That certainly affected us as we lost our way a bit in the second half. But we more than matched Grimsby in the first half, although I was disappointed with the defending that led to their first goal particularly as we'd talked about set pieces.

"We'll take the positives from the first half and go to Telford knowing that we created opportunities. But we know what happens if you don't take your chances."
