Match ends, Norwich City 0, Charlton Athletic 1.
Leaders Norwich suffered a shock home defeat as Johnnie Jackson scored a dramatic 86th-minute winner for Charlton at Carrow Road.
The Canaries should have taken an early lead but Lewis Grabban was denied by Stephen Henderson following Wes Hoolahan's threaded pass.
Nathan Redmond went close when his angled shot was saved and Hoolahan's follow-up was blocked on the line.
Jackson secured the points as his 25-yard deflected effort found the net.
Norwich remain top despite suffering a first league defeat since the opening day of the season.
Neil Adams's side have a superior goal difference ahead of both Nottingham Forest and Watford, who also now have 20 points from 10 matches.
Charlton, still unbeaten in the league, climb to seventh in the table.
Norwich carved out the better chances but were made to pay for some poor finishing.
Grabban flashed a late chance past the post while Cameron Jerome wastefully headed another good opportunity over the bar after connecting with Redmond's cross.
The game was heading for a goalless conclusion when Jackson let fly from 25-yards, the former Tottenham midfielder's effort taking a deflection and beating diving Canaries keeper John Ruddy.
Norwich manager Neil Adams:
"I can't criticise the lads after that. I would have been unhappy with a draw, so to have lost the game, well I am bitterly disappointed.
"We dominated the game, created chances, got the ball behind them and got good crosses in. We also had a goal disallowed and a penalty appeal turned down.
"The only thing we did wrong was not putting the ball in the back of the net, which we have been doing recently.
"Someone said afterwards it was a smash and grab, and it certainly was that."
Charlton manager Bob Peeters:
"When we got in a half-time without conceding we knew they were under pressure and their crowd was getting frustrated. We just had to stick to our game plan and we knew the chances would come.
"We defended very well and when we got a chance we took it, although I don't think it would have gone in without the deflection.
"To be unbeaten after 10 games is very good and I am pleased my players have been rewarded for all their hard work.
"It hasn't been easy for them with a lot of new players coming in, and a new manager as well, and they have done all we have asked of them."
