Derby County 2-0 Bournemouth

Steve McClaren has been in charge at Derby Country for 12 months

Derby scored two late goals to defeat 10-man Bournemouth and move up to fourth in the Championship table.

Former Derby goalkeeper Lee Camp was dismissed in the 67th minute for a foul on Jamie Ward just outside the box.

Will Hughes broke the deadlock nine minutes from time when he exchanged passes with Chris Martin and fired in from 15 yards.

Martin, who also hit a post, turned in Johnny Russell's ball from the right to seal the points in added time.

On the first anniversary of Steve McClaren's appointment as Derby boss, Bournemouth were aiming to beat them in a competitive match for the first time since 1985.

And they came close against the run of play when Junior Stanislas played an angled pass to Callum Wilson, but the striker scuffed his shot at goalkeeper Lee Grant from 12 yards.

Cyrus Christie opened up the Bournemouth defence in the 38th minute with a powerful run that took him past two defenders before he fired just past Camp's right-hand post.

Midway through the second half, Camp brought down Ward as he bore down on goal and, although the ball ended up in the net, referee Scott Mathieson brought play back to send off the goalkeeper.

Camp's replacement Darryl Flahavan almost conceded straight away when Martin's free-kick beat his dive but bounced away off the post.

However, Derby did not take long to make their numerical advantage count with two late strikes.

Derby head coach Steve McClaren:

"Bournemouth came and dropped deep and made it very compact but we kept our patience.

"We said at half-time to keep our patience and concentration because we have players who will score and that's what happened.

"We score goals in the last 10 minutes of games and that's big advantage for us. Teams know that and we just have to keep knocking at the door and hopefully it will come down and it did in this game."

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe:

"We frustrated Derby and made it difficult.

"I thought they shaded it in terms of possession but I thought we were comfortable and had some good counter-attack opportunities ourselves first half.

"We feel hard done by because the way Derby keep the ball it was going to be tough to hang on and although we battled on, they eventually got the goal with a great finish."
