Lenell John-Lewis almost put the hosts ahead in a tight first half but David Raya saved his shot on the turn.
Port's Ross Dyer was denied by James McKeown, while Grimsby's Aristote Nsiala went close with a header.
The deadlock was broken eight minutes from time when Brodie scored from close range after McKeown spilled a corner.
