Match ends, Leeds United 0, Reading 0.
Darko Milanic is still waiting for his first win as Leeds manager after a frustrating goalless draw with Reading.
The Royals were the better side at Elland Road and Nick Blackman went close when his low shot was pushed away by goalkeeper Marco Silvestri.
The home side's best first-half chance was a free-kick from defender Giuseppe Bellusci that went just over the bar.
Silvestri blocked Glenn Murray's header before Leeds striker Billy Sharp's low drive was held by Adam Federici.
Sharp's effort with five minutes remaining was the home side's only shot on target.
Reading remain 10th in the table, while Leeds, who lost 2-0 at Brentford in Slovenian Milanic's first game in charge on Saturday, move up a place to 12th and remain a point behind their opponents.
The Royals, who drew 3-3 with Wolves at the weekend, are now unbeaten in nine meetings with Leeds, stretching back to 2005.
Leeds manager Darko Milanic:
"We deserved one point. We wanted to make it three but it's also a very positive result.
"I saw a better team [compared to the weekend]. I think everybody saw the same as I did. We didn't win but the players want to play good and compact and to play together.
"We had a dynamic from the beginning. We had aggression and tempo. We made some mistakes with the pass. We weren't dangerous. We made too many bad last passes."
Reading manager Nigel Adkins:
"On reflection we've kept a good clean sheet after conceding three at the weekend, but we've had enough opportunities and penalty shouts to win the game.
"It's a difficult place to come to. They've won four out of five at home and it was their first game at home for the manager, so we knew it would be a challenge.
"But we had a fair amount of possession, put some good crosses in, the keeper's made some really good saves."
