Fleetwood Town 1-0 Port Vale

Stephen Dobbie's penalty gave Fleetwood victory over 10-man Port Vale to end a run of seven games without a win.

The Scottish striker, on loan from Crystal Palace, scored from the spot with 10 minutes remaining after David Ball was fouled by Ryan McGivern.

Second-bottom Vale played the second half without Jordan Slew after the Blackburn loanee caught Stephen Jordan with a flailing arm and was sent off.

Vale went closest to levelling when top scorer Tom Pope headed against the bar.

After netting five goals in Vale's first four games this season, Pope has now gone nine games without scoring.

Port Vale interim manager Rob Page told BBC Radio Stoke:

"When you come to places like this you know you're in for a tough game.

"It was a similar set-up to what we had against Bradford. But I was extremely proud of the effort they put in.

"We wanted to frustrate them into playing risky passes, intercepting and catching them on the break a little bit."
