Philippe Troussier left his position as CS Sfaxien coach on Sunday following the Tunisian club's defeat in the African Champions League.
Sfaxien were beaten 2-1 by Vita Club of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final on Saturday for a 4-2 aggregate loss.
The club's website said Troussier had left the Tunisian outfit by mutual consent.
Frenchman Troussier, 59, is a former coach of the Japan and Ivory Coast national teams.
He will be succeeded at Sfaxien by Ghazi Ghrairi, who has coached the club in the past.
