England representatives, the Isle of Man, were narrowly beaten 1-0 by hosts Slovakia in their final group match at the Uefa Regions' Cup.

A second-half goal by Rudolf Bilas was enough to secure runner-up spot for the Slovakians behind the unbeaten German side Wurttemberg.

The Germans won all three matches to progress, with the IoM third.

The team qualified for the tournament for the world's top amateur players by winning the FA Inter-League Cup.

Steve Burns' men opened the competition with a 2-0 victory against Scotland before a heavy 7-0 defeat by Germany.

A spokesman for the Isle of Man Football Association said the win would "go down in Manx football folklore".

"The lads have done the Isle of Man very proud this week and the victory over Scotland was a phenomenal achievement," he added.
